The Lamar Silver Foxes lost against the Latta Vikings back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Lamar fell 44-37 to Latta. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lamar in their matchups with Latta: they've now lost seven in a row.
It was another big night for Shawniza Bethea, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and six steals for Latta. That makes it six consecutive games in which Bethea has scored at least a third of Latta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Hyatt, who scored five points along with eight rebounds.
Lamar has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Latta, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lamar will challenge Green Sea Floyds at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Green Sea Floyds is ranked 220th, while Lamar is ranked 212th). As for Latta, they will head out on the road to face off against East Clarendon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
