After two games on the road, Eastlake is heading back home. They will take on the Coronado Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Eastlake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
Last Friday, Eastlake sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-41 victory over El Dorado. Given Eastlake's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while El Dorado is ranked 1007th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lucas Brandon was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 13 points. Derek Mendez was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Coronado came up short against Franklin on Friday and fell 54-43. Coronado has not had much luck with Franklin recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Eastlake has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-14 record this season. As for Coronado, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-20.
Eastlake didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Coronado when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 37-32 win. Does Eastlake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coronado turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
