Basketball Recap: Freeport Comes Up Short

Freeport extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 3-6. They had to suffer through an 87-59 loss at the hands of the Rocky Bayou Christian Knights. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Freeport lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jayden Boran, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dameyan Martin, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

As for Rocky Bayou Christian, their win bumped their record up to 9-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Rocky Bayou Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Calix McCune, who went 7-for-11 en route to 19 points and eight assists. Thanks to that strong game, McCune now owns an excellent 40.6% three-point shooting accuracy. Harrison Sanders was another key player, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 13 boards.

Freeport didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 84-67 win against Aletheia Christian Academy on the 19th. As for Rocky Bayou Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-47 victory against Destin on the 18th.
