Basketball Recap: Whitmer Piles Up the Points Against Southview

It was a proper cat-fight when Whitmer duked it out withSouthview on Monday. The Whitmer Panthers breezed by the Southview Cougars to the tune of 60-31. With the Panthers ahead 38-17 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whitmer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madison Finch, who posted ten points. Finch is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Olivia Welch was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Whitmer was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Despite the loss, Southview still got an impressive performance from Amani Woodard, who put up eight points.

Whitmer moved to 5-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Southview, their defeat was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

Whitmer didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-32 victory against Rogers on the 9th. As for Southview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-20 win against Springfield on the 9th.
