5A Region 2 recap October 1, 2013
Tanner Thompson and Sam Melo provided fans with a highlight when they connected against West. The connection was good for 71 yards, the longest such play in 5A Region 2 this season.
The Panthers lost to Hillcrest 43-23 last week, the largest margin of any game.
To'a MauMau was a passing and rushing force as Taylorsville defeated Granger. He completed 7 passes for 185 yards and also ran for 130 yards. MauMau's key target this week was Emilio Salvador, who caught 4 passes for 70 yards.
Thompson threw for 190 yards and 4 touchdowns.
MauMau was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 130 yards as the Warriors beat the Lancers. Isaiah Peete also contributed to the rushing game with 22 yards on the ground.
Hunter's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Wolverines feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. McKay Medlinger has thrown for 761 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Noah Togiai has 20 catches for 336 yards.
At the moment, the Huskies are in fifth, while Taylorsville is in first.
Hillcrest led the league in scoring this week by notching 43 points on West. Thompson ran for 49 yards during the win.
