Monroe Central is a perfect 5-0 against Cambridge City Lincoln since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Golden Bears will challenge the Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Monroe Central has three straight wins, Cambridge City Lincoln has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Thursday, Monroe Central got the win against Randolph Southern by a conclusive 11-1. The Golden Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Isaac Middleton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Middleton was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Monroe Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-13 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Duncan, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Monroe Central is undefeated when Duncan posts two or more stolen bases, but 8-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason McCreery, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI.
Monroe Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They are 9-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Cambridge City Lincoln didn't have quite enough to beat Eastern Hancock on Tuesday and fell 4-2.
Monroe Central pushed their record up to 13-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they now have a losing record of 10-11.
