The Hayden Lobos will take on the Mohave Accelerated Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hayden is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Ray, who was ranked 12th at the time (Hayden was ranked first). The Lobos really took it to the Bearcats for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-6 victory. The win continues a trend for the Lobos in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Hayden's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kino Lorona, who rushed for 116 yards and two scores on only five carries, and also picked up 98 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Lorona has been hot for a while, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last 16 times he's played. Tyler Garner was another key rusher, rushing for 130 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Hayden proved: they limited Ray to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Lorona for the heroic effort on defense: he. Hayden didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 20.3.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Hayden, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Garner, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mohave Accelerated walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Yote 58-0. That looming 58-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Patriots yet this season.
Mohave Accelerated's win came from a few key players Hayden will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Rylan Krahenbuhl, who threw for 165 yards and five TDs on only nine passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Mohave Accelerated's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. The Patriots' leading receiver Owen Honegger was Krahenbuhl's top target yet again, picking up 104 receiving yards and three scores.
Mohave Accelerated's defense made their presence known, laying out Justin Aguon ten times. The heavy lifting was done by Laisyc Conlogue and Jerry Torres, who racked up eight sacks between them. Drake Knight got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Mohave Accelerated's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Hayden, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Hayden has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 288.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mohave Accelerated struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 183.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other football content.
