The Deerfield Beach Bucks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 14th straight loss. They were dealt a 65-29 defeat at the hands of St. Thomas Aquinas. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Deerfield Beach has scored all season.
St. Thomas Aquinas found their leader in underclassman Clarence Westbrook Jr., who scored 17 points along with two steals. Westbrook Jr. has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ayden (AJ) Ambrose, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Deerfield Beach's defeat was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-16. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deerfield Beach will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cooper City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Thomas Aquinas won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cardinal Gibbons at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. Cardinal Gibbons is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
