The Madison Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 56-19 loss at the hands of Columbia Independent. Madison lost against Columbia Independent in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 38-33 score last time.
It was another big night for Blake Morris, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds for Columbia Independent. The matchup was Morris' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Martin, who scored eight points along with six assists.
Madison's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Columbia Independent, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.
Madison will be playing in front of their home fans against Wellsville-Middletown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Wellsville-Middletown is ranked 549th, while Madison is ranked 543rd). Columbia Independent won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Christian Fellowship at 5:45 p.m. on January 3rd. Christian Fellowship is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
