After two games on the road, Marksville is heading back home. They will take on the Mansfield Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
After soaring to 56 points the game before, Marksville were a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 47-12 loss at the hands of Bunkie. Marksville has struggled against Bunkie recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Marksville got a solid performance out of Elidrick Murray, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Mansfield put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Red River with a sharp 43-20 victory. The victory was nothing new for Mansfield as they're now sitting on four straight.
Terrence Pegues was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Pegues was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.
Marksville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Mansfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Marksville has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 215.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mansfield struggles in that department as they've been even better at 249.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
