The Carmel Greyhounds will head out to take on the McCutcheon Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Carmel barely beat Fishers the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Greyhounds never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Monday. The Greyhounds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Eli Wier tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jake Behm, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Neels, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.
Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, McCutcheon got the win against Lafayette Jefferson on Monday by a conclusive 17-2. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Jake Winger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.
McCutcheon has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Carmel, the victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 6-8.
Carmel skirted past McCutcheon 2-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greyhounds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
