Softball Recap: Victor Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Victor ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Brighton Bruins. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Bruins recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Victor let Audrey Steinorth and Ryleigh Fontana run wild. Steinorth went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Fontana went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Fontana has posted since back in April.

Victor hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive matches.

Victor's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Brighton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.

Coming up, Victor will head out on the road to take on Irondequoit at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Brighton, they will welcome Webster Thomas at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Titans will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight.
