Homestead is 8-1 against Fremont since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Homestead Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Fremont Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. Homestead is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
Homestead fell victim to Palo Alto's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 42-0 defeat at the hands of the Vikings. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, Homestead couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Fremont pushed their score all the way to 33 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 43-33 to Carlmont. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (31), Fremont still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Fremont got a solid performance out of Alexander Solarez, who rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Solarez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 85-yard run. Jordan Mckinney was in the mix too, providing Fremont with two touchdowns.
Homestead's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.2 points per game. As for Fremont, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Homestead has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fremont struggles in that department as they've been even better at 222.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything went Homestead's way against Fremont in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as Homestead made off with a 20-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Homestead since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
