The Union Academy Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Hickory Grove Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Union Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Union Academy came up short against Piedmont and fell 51-44.
Union Academy's defeat came about despite a quality game from Aidan Scruitsky, who scored 21 points. The matchup was Scruitsky's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Rangolan, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hickory Grove Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 62-35 loss at the hands of SouthLake Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Hickory Grove Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while SouthLake Christian Academy is ranked 155th).
Union Academy's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-5. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Union Academy came up short against Hickory Grove Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 83-71. Can Union Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
