After three games on the road, Petersburg is heading back home. They will take on The East Hardy Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought match, but Petersburg had to settle for a 30-27 loss against Tucker County.
Trace Edward Rohrbaugh put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 175 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also picked up 53 receiving yards. Kaleb Kuhn got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, East Hardy's good fortune finally ran out two weeks ago. They fell 20-10 to Doddridge County.
Petersburg's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Greenbrier West and 5-4 Northern (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 73.9% over those games). As for East Hardy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Petersburg came up short against East Hardy when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 37-26. Will Petersburg have more luck at home instead of on the road?
