The River Valley Vikings will be playing at home against the Marion Harding Presidents at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
River Valley's 16-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 44-43 to Pleasant. While losing is never fun, River Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Pleasant is ranked 46th).
Despite the loss, River Valley had strong showings from Megan Clausing, who scored 16 points along with 4 steals, and Lexie Hecker, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists. Clausing scored a full 37.2% of River Valley's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Snyder, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Marion Harding's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Highland by a score of 29-27.
River Valley now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Marion Harding, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
River Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Marion Harding in their previous matchup back in January, winning 62-53. Does River Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marion Harding turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
