Westview has gone 8-2 against Lakeland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Warriors will square off against the Lakers at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Westview is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Churubusco 15-5. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jaxon Miller and Gavin Engle did most of the damage at the plate: Miller got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Engle went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those two RBI gave Miller a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Engle, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Westview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lakeland entered their tilt with Prairie Heights on Saturday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Lakers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by eight runs or more this season.
Carter Crouse was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Crouse was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lakeland let Carson Mickem and Garrett Pieri run wild. Mickem went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Pieri went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Pieri is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Brayden Holbrook was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Westview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Lakeland, their win bumped their record up to 25-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Westview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lakeland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Westview's way against Lakeland in their previous matchup back in April, as Westview made off with a 6-0 victory. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Lakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
