Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack walked away with it. They had just enough and edged Lincoln out 37-34. Cosumnes Oaks' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Cosumnes Oaks' win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brandon Lambert, who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 31 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Marino Fragata, who threw for 195 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes.
When it comes to explaining why Lincoln lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordin Thomas. Despite the final result, he rushed for 213 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last six times he's played.
Cosumnes Oaks now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
Cosumnes Oaks will head out on the road to face off against Folsom at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Folsom presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cosumnes Oaks in California (Folsom is ranked 20th, while Cosumnes Oaks is ranked 198th). Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
