MINERAL RIDGE, Ohio -
McDonald (Ohio) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 18-14 victory over
Mineral Ridge (Ohio) on Saturday. The Blue Devils took the lead for good when
Ben Carkido ran for a touchdown.
The Blue Devils led 12-7 at halftime, but the Rams regained the lead on a passing touchdown with 9:00 to go in the third. McDonald grabbed hold of the lead when Carkido ran for a touchdown with 11:00 left in the fourth quarter, and never relinquished it.
Mineral Ridge scored on a passing touchdown in the quarter.
MHS entered the contest giving up 21.2 points per game this year.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Blue Devils, who were coming off a 24-14 defeat at the hands of Western Reserve in its previous game. The loss comes after Mineral Ridge defeated McKinley 34-14 last week.
Mineral Ridge (4-2) will play a Inter-Tri-County - Small game against Jackson-Milton next week, while McDonald (4-2) will take on Leetonia also in a Inter-Tri-County - Small game.
