8A District 7 recap Nov. 7, 2012
East Lake extended the longest winning streak in 8A District 7 this week by beating Palm Harbor University, 35-21. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Eagles.
Riverview made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,787 from 2,993. The advance stemmed from a 31-28 victory over North Port last week.
The Rams' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dominic Marino threw for 266 and three touchdowns and Richard James had 179 yards receiving. On the ground Karan Higdon chipped in 125 yards. Justin Austin helped Riverview's passing attack out by catching two balls for 76 yards.
East Lake's Pete Dinovo and George Campbell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Dinovo has thrown for 1975 yards this season, while Campbell, a 6-foot-5 receiver, has 25 catches for 664 yards. Higdon from Riverview leads the league in rushing with 796 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against Clearwater, Dinovo is short just 25 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
The Eagles led the league in scoring this week after putting up 35 points on the Hurricanes. Dinovo threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 14 yards in the win.
