Coal City gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener  on Monday. They put the hurt on the Prairie Central Hawks with a sharp  15-3 victory. The Coalers haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive  win against them.
 Ethan Olson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Olson was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-2.
 In other batting news, Coal City let  Dylan Young and  Hayden Clark run wild. Young  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4, while  Clark  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave  Young a new career-high in  doubles (two). Another player making a difference was  Gabe McHugh, who  went 2-for-4 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI.
 Coal City  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prairie Central only posted  an  OBP of  .393.
 Coal City didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  match,  an  11-5  victory against Dwight on the 18th. As for Prairie Central, they also  wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  game,  a  12-2  defeat against Pekin on the 18th.
