2A Region 5 recap October 8, 2013
Lake added to the longest winning streak in 2A Region 5 this week by beating Clarkdale, 48-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Lake took down the Bulldogs 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Enterprise's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jason McCutheon threw for 58 yards and Reece Williams had 40 yards receiving. On the ground Ly Johntay Horton contributed 122 yards. Austin Robinson helped Enterprise's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 15 yards.
The Bulldogs' dynamic duo of McCutheon and Williams proved tough for Union to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Robinson helped Enterprise's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 15 yards.
Horton provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Enterprise lost to the Yellowjackets. Horton's key target this week was Williams, who caught 3 passes for 40 yards.
Errol McCloud made the biggest impact on defense this week as Kelly Jimmerson's team lost to Union. He recorded 1 fumble.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Jeff Breland's team's Matt Mitchell and Juwan Bell have proven to be a lethal combination. Mitchell has thrown for 251 yards this season, while Bell has 3 catches for 97 yards. Cade Gibson from the Bulldogs leads the league in rushing with 730 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Scott Central takes on the Hornets. As it stands, the Rebels are in third, while Lake is in first.
