The Briarwood Academy Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Gatewood with a sharp 55-31 win on Friday. The win was nothing new for Briarwood Academy as they're now sitting on four straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Briarwood Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Scott, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The contest was Scott's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Caroline Stapleton, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds.
Briarwood Academy pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Gatewood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Briarwood Academy will take on Brentwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Brentwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. Gatewood won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Georgia Military College at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th. Georgia Military College comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
