Corri Houston made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 22 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Farmville Central got a massive performance out of Michele Wirth, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Kenly Witherington was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Farmville Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, McMichael beat Northwood 6-1 on Tuesday.
Lindsay Redmon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Kora Ingle was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lizzie Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.
Farmville Central's record is now 20-6. As for McMichael, their record now sits at 21-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Farmville Central hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like McMichael struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 home runs.
