Timpview is 2-8 against Mountain View since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Timpview will host Mountain View at 3:30 p.m. Timpview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Timpview's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Hillcrest 11-0. While the Thunderbirds didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
True Andersen looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Timpview is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zeke Kleven, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Max Clark was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Timpview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Mountain View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 8-1 to Wasatch.
Timpview has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. Mountain View now has a losing record of 5-6.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Timpview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Timpview suffered a grim 27-2 defeat to Mountain View when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can Timpview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
