The Chaparral Pumas will head out on the road to face off against the Oaks Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Even though Roosevelt scored an imposing 57 points on Thursday, Chaparral still came out on top. Chaparral sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-57 win over Roosevelt. Chaparral pushed the score to 49-28 by the end of the third, a deficit Roosevelt cut but never quite recovered from.
Dash Beierly was on fire: he rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 306 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. BLAKE LOWE did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Oaks Christian entered their tilt with St. Bonaventure with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Oaks Christian had just enough and edged St. Bonaventure out 13-10. Given Oaks Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while St. Bonaventure is ranked 63rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
The win was the third in a row for Chaparral, bringing their record for this year to 7-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.33 points across that stretch. As for Oaks Christian, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2.
