The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. John Paul II in their matchups with Wakulla: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, St. John Paul II saw an underclassman step up: Aliyah Medrano dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Medrano also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Blakely Naumann, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
It was another big night for Kyendra Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds for Wakulla. Thomas is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Amariyah Donaldson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
St. John Paul II bumped their record down to 3-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Wakulla, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
St. John Paul II and Franklin County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Wakulla, they will head out on the road to face off against Wewahitchka at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
