Meanwhile, North Bullitt hadn't done well against North Oldham recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Eagles came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 11-7. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Amree Hammons made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabby Coy, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two doubles. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Sydney Wiseman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
North Bullitt is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Spencer County, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Spencer County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it's not like North Bullitt struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Spencer County suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to North Bullitt in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
