CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. -
Crystal River (Fla.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 14 points, drop to six before the final whistle blew on a 14-8 victory over
Nature Coast Tech (Brooksville, Fla.).
The lead that the Pirates took on a touchdown run by
Collin Ryan with 11:00 remaining in the second quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
Nature Coast Tech's only touchdown came on a 99-yard kick return by
DeShawn Smith in the second quarter.
The win was a nice bounce back for Crystal River, which lost to Trinity Catholic last week, 45-15.
In a non-conference game next week Crystal River (1-1) takes on South Sumter, and Nature Coast Tech (0-1) will go up against Springstead also in a non-conference game.
