The Elkin Buckin' Elks will head out on the road to face off against the North Rowan Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Elkin is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Elkin fell victim to Starmount's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Rams 41-0. While losing is never fun, Elkin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while Starmount is ranked 148th).
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, North Rowan's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Salisbury on the road and fell 55-14.
Despite the loss, North Rowan had strong showings from Jeremiah Alford, who rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns, and Jaemias Morrow, who rushed for 138 yards.
Elkin has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for North Rowan, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
