The Langley Saxons will face off against the University Hawks at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Langley 2.7, University 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Langley saw some tournament action on Monday. They fell just short of Corning-Painted Post by a score of 8-7.
Caitlin Hohenthaner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Juliet Sayers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, University entered their tilt with Brighton on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Bruins get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.
Maddie Campbell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexi Elza, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Sophia Lehosit also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
University pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Langley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Langley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
