Galva is 1-9 against Princeville since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Galva Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the Princeville Princes at 7:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Galva has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Princeville will arrive with 11 straight victories.
Galva suffered their biggest defeat since November 24, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 67-44 walloping at the hands of Annawan. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Galva in their matchups with Annawan: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Galva saw an underclassman step up: JP Sloan scored 16 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Sloan scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Blake Stahl, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Princeville gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. Everything went their way against Monmouth United as Princeville made off with a 65-41 win. Given Princeville's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Monmouth United is ranked 449th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Galva has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Princeville, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Galva took a serious blow against Princeville in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 66-15. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Galva was down 35-4.
