Silver Creek and Christopher are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Silver Creek has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 14.
Piedmont Hills hit Silver Creek with a six-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders lost 12-2 to the Pirates.
Silver Creek saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madeline Collins, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three match, Christopher brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They were the clear victors by a 19-5 margin over Oak Grove on Friday. Considering the Cougars have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Audrina Cabanlit made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Melissa Lugo was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Brianna Diaz Cruz was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Christopher was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Christopher's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. As for Silver Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16.
Silver Creek suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Christopher in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
