After flying high against the Somerset Academy Key Lions on Saturday, the Saint Andrew's Scots came back down to earth. Saint Andrew's fell 75-62 to American Heritage on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Saint Andrew's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brooklyn Vick, who scored 20 points along with 3 steals. The matchup was Vick's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zion Sampaio, who scored 14 points.
Saint Andrew's struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as American Heritage pulled down 15.
American Heritage found their leader in underclassman Xander Gerard, who scored 26 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Gerard has scored at least 25% of American Heritage's points. Brendan Gerard was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 6 rebounds.
Saint Andrew's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for American Heritage, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Saint Andrew's will play host again and welcome St. John Paul II Academy, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for American Heritage, they will head out on the road to face off against West Boca Raton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
