The Tolman Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 31 points or more this season. They blew past Tiverton, posting a 80-38 win on the road. Given Tolman's advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Tiverton is ranked 44th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tolman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Hilaire, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten assists. Those ten assists set a new season-high mark for him. Nick Fleury was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Tolman and bumps their season record up to 8-1. As for Tiverton, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Tolman will look to defend their home court on Monday against Hope at 7:00 p.m. Hope is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Tiverton, they will head out on the road to face off against Johnston at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Johnston knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Tiverton likes a good challenge.
