Even though the South Charlotte T Thunder scored an imposing 71 points on Tuesday, the Comenius Knights still came out on top. It was close, but Comenius ultimately received the gift of a 74-71 victory from a begrudging Knightssquad. The win made it back-to-back wins for they.
Comenius found their leader in underclassman Donovin Jones, who scored 29 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The game was Jones' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Priester, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
South Charlotte T's loss came despite strong showings from Aaron Hill and Luke Rullo. Hill dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten assists, while Rullo scored 22 points. Rullo scored a full 31% of South Charlotte T's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Will Prevost was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Even though they lost, South Charlotte T were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Comenius only posted 23 assists.
The win got Comenius back to even at 8-8. As for South Charlotte T, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.
Comenius has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Greater Cabarrus S at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st. One thing working in Greater Cabarrus S's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games. South Charlotte T will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chatham HomeSchool at 8:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Hopefully Chatham HomeSchool focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday.
