The Lakeland Regional Lancers are on the road again on Friday and play against the Bernards Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Lakeland Regional had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They snuck past Caldwell with a 33-28 win on Friday.
Lakeland Regional can attribute much of their success to Collin Sabric, who threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns, and Jake Spear, who picked up 166 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Spear was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards. Kyle Keyes got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Bernards put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sussex County Tech 48-0 at home. Bernards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten matches by 24 points or more this season.
Bernards' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Connor Laverty, who threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and Logan Stevens, who rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Lakeland Regional is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Bernards, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
