The Cisne Runnin' Lions will head out to face off against the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cisne is looking for their season's first win.
Cisne lost 18-1 to Fairfield on Wednesday.
Cisne saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sidney Sullens, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Evansville Central with a sharp 17-0 victory. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Golden Aces this season.
Evie Sellers made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Mt. Carmel let Riley Hershey and Leah Lewis run wild. Hershey got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Lewis fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave Lewis a new career-high. Mattie Armstrong also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Mt. Carmel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Evansville Central only managed four hits.
Mt. Carmel's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Cisne, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cisne hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .357. However, it's not like Mt. Carmel struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
