The Sparta Academy Warriors's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Pickens Academy Pirates at 2:30 p.m. on December 28th. Hopefully Sparta Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday.
Sparta Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season. They breezed by Crenshaw Christian Academy on the road to the tune of 60-2. The victory was just what Sparta Academy needed coming off of a 66-34 loss in their prior contest.
Jamie Ellissa Deason and Kaitlyn Johnson were among the main playmakers for Sparta Academy as the former scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals and the latter scored 18 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Johnson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Aubreigh Phillips was another key contributor, scoring four points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Pickens Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were dealt a 52-25 loss at the hands of Southern Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pickens Academy in their matchups with Southern Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
Sparta Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Pickens Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Everything came up roses for Sparta Academy against Pickens Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 66-17 win. With Sparta Academy ahead 33-11 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
