Football Recap: Idalia Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Idalia had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their game with ease, bagging a 65-14 victory over the Prairie Mustangs. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Idalia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kolby Morris, who rushed for 72 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Those 72 rushing yards gave Morris a new career-high. Bode Monahan was in the mix as well, providing Idalia with one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Idalia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 419 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in 14 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Idalia's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Hunter Drullinger and Edward Keller, who racked up five sacks between them. Idalia received some extra help from Monahan, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Coming up, Idalia will challenge Hanover at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Prairie, they will take on Arickaree at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
