Zachary is 3-0 against Dutchtown since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Zachary Broncos will take on the Dutchtown Griffins at TBD. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Zachary comes in on three and Dutchtown on seven.
With a playoff game on the line, Zachary rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 35-14 win. The result was nothing new for Zachary, who have now won eight games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Kameron Thomas had a dynamite game for Zachary, rushing for 242 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last six times he's played. Trey?dez Green also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Dutchtown faced Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Dutchtown made off with a 21-20 victory over Central.
Zachary's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Dutchtown, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 11-1 record.
Zachary took their win against Dutchtown in their previous matchup back in September of 2016 by a conclusive 33-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Zachary since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
