The Perry County Vikings won the last time they faced the Waverly Central Tigers, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Perry County came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 59-52. Perry County pushed the score to 51-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.
Perry County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jake Mercer out in front who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Warren, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Perry County's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Waverly Central, they dropped their record down to 1-17 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home.
Perry County will take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wayne County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season. As for Waverly Central, they will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
