Prout has gone a perfect 3-0 against Ponaganset recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Sunday. The Crusaders are taking a road trip to take on the Chieftains at 1:00 p.m. Ponaganset took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Prout, who comes in off a win.
Prout is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Westerly, who was ranked ninth at the time (Prout was ranked seventh). The Crusaders won by a run and slipped past the Bulldogs 6-5.

Lily Sheehan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Emma Manzo was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rachel Dias, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Chariho hit Ponaganset with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chieftains lost 11-1 to the Chargers. The Chieftains have struggled against the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Ponaganset saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maia Salvo, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Prout's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ponaganset, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
Prout's speedy runners might be the difference in Sunday's contest. The Crusaders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Ponaganset, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Prout continue to outrun the ball?
Prout was able to grind out a solid win over Ponaganset in their previous matchup back in June of 2022, winning 9-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
