1A District 3 recap September 10, 2013
South Walton moved up to 446 from 489 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A District 3. The Seahawks were able to make move up by topping North Bay Haven Academy 47-20.
Holmes County lost to Liberty County 47-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
David Elmore was the best wideout in the league this week as Bozeman fell to Graceville. Elmore tallied 5 receptions for 137 yards.
Javakiel Brigham was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 9 carries, he ran for 129 yards as Blountstown lost to the Tigers. Alex Mayorga also contributed to the rushing game with 72 yards on the ground.
Johnathan Ortner threw for 294 yards and 5 touchdowns. He went 25-32 with 1 interceptions.
Ortner put up the best numbers in passing as South Walton defeated North Bay Haven Academy. Ortner's favorite target this week was Alex Smith, who caught 8 passes for 125 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Ortner of Phil Tisa's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 444. He has also thrown 7 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Elmore. The Bozeman star has 9 catches for 183 yards.
The Seahawks made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,017 from 11,633. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 47-20 victory over Jared Hale's team last week.
