Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for South Plainfield

South Plainfield won the last time they faced Woodbridge and things went their way on Saturday too. The Tigers walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Barrons. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on three straight.

South Plainfield got a great performance from Michael Castagna as he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits.

On the hitting side, South Plainfield's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nick Irizarry, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run. Another was Aiden McCarthy, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

South Plainfield's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Woodbridge, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Woodbridge has already played their next contest (against McKean), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. South Plainfield will be paying especially close attention to the Barrons' matchup: after the Barrons face off against the Highlanders, they'll take on South Plainfield again at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
