Valley View is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Poly is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Bears at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Valley View's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Thursday, when they got past Hemet's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Eagles put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 16-1 win.
Alyssa Torres was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Maddie Barrios was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Valley View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Poly got the win against Orange Vista on Thursday by a conclusive 11-5. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Coyotes: they've now won three in a row.
Marley Audoma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Violet Espin, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Karly Romero, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Valley View is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Poly, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Valley View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Poly struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Valley View beat Poly 6-2 in their previous meeting on April 3rd. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
