On Tuesday, the Pickens Blue Flame faced the Greenwood Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pickens sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-39 win over the Eagles. Winning may never get old, but Pickens sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Maggie Chambers continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Hannah Campbell was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Danielle Oliver and Cameron Oliver certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Oliver scored 19 points along with three steals, while Oliver scored 13 points along with two steals. Oliver is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games she's played.
Pickens' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Greenwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-4.
Coincidentally, Pickens and the Eagles will both be playing the Green Wave the next time they take the court. Greenwood will host Easley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Pickens will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
