The Monarch Knights will face off against the West Boca Raton Bulls at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Monarch is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They put the hurt on Olympic Heights with a sharp 17-1 win. Considering the Knights have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Mylie Carlson was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Jayden Uzzo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Monarch lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Boca Raton). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Coral Springs a 20-0 shutout on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulls needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Araya Brunner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brunner was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Madison Luft was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Villon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Monarch's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-10. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for West Boca Raton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.
West Boca Raton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Monarch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. It's a different story for West Boca Raton, though, as they've only averaged .351. Will they be able to contain Monarch's hitters?
Monarch couldn't quite finish off West Boca Raton when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 13-11. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
