Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Victory Is Mount De Sales Academy's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

After losing to John Carroll the last time they met, Mount de Sales Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mount de Sales Academy Sailors came out on top against the John Carroll Patriots by a score of 49-41 on Wednesday.

Mount de Sales Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Powers out in front who went 5 of 8 on her way to 17 points. That's the most points Powers has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Carroll, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Mount de Sales Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Mount de Sales Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for John Carroll, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 14-5-2.

Mount de Sales Academy will head out to take on Severn School at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for John Carroll, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. John's Catholic Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
