The team relied heavily on Caleb Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Agen, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Oak Harbor had just enough and edged out Ferndale 4-3 on Thursday.
Trevor Sadler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Sadler wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was David Smith III, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. John Totten also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Oak Harbor's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Marysville Getchell, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Oak Harbor's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Marysville Getchell hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. It's a different story for Oak Harbor, though, as they've only averaged .221. Will they be able to contain Marysville Getchell's hitters?
Marysville Getchell couldn't quite finish off Oak Harbor when the teams last played back in March of 2025 and fell 6-4. Can Marysville Getchell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
